The Jock
A boxer in her native Sweden, Inez Karlsson also was involved training Standardbred horses before turning to Thoroughbreds and coming to North America. She made her debut at Arlington late in the 2007 meet and scored her maiden victory here Team Block's Death Valley on Sept. 12, 2007. She became the first female rider in Arlington history to bag four wins on one card – completing that feat twice en route to honors as the meet's leading apprentice rider in 2008. She was named a finalist for the 2008 Eclipse as Outstanding Apprentice Jockey but finished second in that balloting. More recently, Inez won her first ever graded stakes race when she captured the Grade III Hanshin Cup aboard Country Flavor.
